The Department of Theater and Dance provide a thriving forum for the study of dance, theater, and other types of performance. The mission of the department is to develop and nurture students' capacity for self-expression and critical thinking; to train actors, dancers, designers, directors, and playwrights for professional work; to provide students with a general education through the media of dance, performance, and theatre; and to train graduate students as scholars and teachers.

UCSB Department of Theater and Dance opens its ticket office!


The Theater and Dance Ticket Office hours are 12-4pm, Tues-Fri (phone 805-893-7221); it will also be open 1 hour prior to curtain to sell tickets for that performance.

Patrons can also go on-line, follow the prompts, and purchase tickets for upcoming shows with a credit card with our online partner, Ticket Turtle.

Michael Douglas Distinguished Visting Artist 2007-08

Playwright Barbara Lebow is named as the department's "Douglas" lecturer for 2007-08. The department is presenting Ms. Lebow's Plumfield, Iraq, this spring directed by Risa Brainin.
