About the Company

Santa Barbara Dance Theatre, established in 1991 under the direction of Jerry Pearson has grown to an eight member professional company in residence in the UCSB Department of Theater and Dance. The dancers, encompassing a wide range of experience, are contracted 30 weeks per year, the only such company in the mid-state area. Among other activities, SBDT works in collabor ation with the Lobero Theatre Foundation in its youth outreach program,DANCE! Santa Barbara, which annually exposes over 10,000 school children to professional dance with in-school performances and workshops. Recently, SBDT has been re-established as a touring company with engagements in Utah, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.
